Senior Software Engineer
Princeton Instruments/Acton, a global leader in high-performance CCD detectors, spectrometers and optics, is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer with strong object oriented design skills, working knowledge of the Microsoft .NET programming environment and experience with Delphi and C#. Responsibilities include development of applications software for our Spectroscopic instrumentation products in the physical and life science markets, control of instrument hardware including USB drivers, OEM applications support with existing software toolkits plus the development of future software toolkits. Experience with embedded firmware development using the MicroChip PIC native language desirable.

Application Specialist
Princeton Instruments, the leading global manufacturer of high-performance CCD detectors and spectrographs, has an open position for an Application Specialist within it’s Marketing and Sales Department. This position, which will report to the Spectroscopy Business Manager, will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with scientific researchers, facilitating joint research, publications and feedback on new products. The person will also provide sales tools which will help in building and maintaining agreed branding objectives and supporting sales goals.
Additional responsibilities will include providing “expert” support to the sales and customer support teams, assisting in building and maintaining strategic customer relationships commensurate with winning new business and maintaining existing business, assisting the sales team to successfully close business and contributing to New Product Introduction and continuous improvement activities.
A Ph.D in Chemistry or Physics is required, preferably with experience using Princeton Instruments and Acton products.

COATING TECHNICIAN, Full-time, First shift
Location: Acton, Massachusetts
Primary Requirements:
- Comfortable with Windows 2000, Windows XP and Microsoft Office, especially file management and Excel
- Experience with UV optical coatings
- Willing to undergo a long and technically involved training process
- Dependable, with strong work ethic
- Experience handling, inspecting and cleaning glass for low-defect optical coatings
- Attention to detail
- Readily admits and documents mistakes
- Experience measuring samples at various angles on spectrophotometers
- Quality and safety conscious
- Carefully follows established procedures
- Quick to pick up and follow new procedures
- Adaptable to changes, continuous improvement and local ways of doing things
- Comfortable doing the same or different coatings each day
- Able to plan work, maintain records, supplies and anticipate PM (preventive maintenance)
- Fluent in English
These skills would be a plus: Competent operation of and performing daily maintenance on manual or automated optical coating deposition equipment involving computers, electron-beam guns, mass-flow controllers, vacuum gages, thermal sources, heaters, crystal monitors/process controllers, optical monitors, electronics, diagnostics, vacuum pumps, air-valves, and planetary rotation.
Relevant, but not required skills or training.
- Experience operating and doing PM or repairs on computer files, vacuum systems and electron beam guns.

This position is full time with full benefits. Pay is competitive and dependent on candidate’s experience.
Hours: 7:30AM to 5 PM, 40 straight-time hours plus a minimum of 5 hours paid overtime per week.
